A while back, I had a cyst surgically removed from my ear. A month later, the area suddenly swelled with pus and burst--a frightening sight, you can imagine. I quickly went to the Doctor Who informed me it was a suture abscess, which would eventually heal on its own. He prescribed antiobiotics, and told me to apply bacitracin to the area to speed up the process. Rather than bacitracin, I would use Neosporin which contains bacitracin and other antibiotic drugs as well.
Suture is basically a stitch when you have a deep cut. So if you get stitches to close a wound they may tell you how many sutures they used to close the gash. Suture+stitch were as sutures mean stitches, there are no other meanings to this word. Ken...

How do you treat an abscess under the skin?

Antibiotics are effective for many infections, but in an abscess, the body has walled off the infection. Normally you need the assistance of a health care provider to clear up the infection. If your health care provider can't get you in soon (a dentist if the abscess is in your mouth, or a primary care provider if elsewhere), use warm compresses four times a day and see if you can find an urgent care center to help you with the abscess.

Why leave a suture tail?

Leaving a suture tail is important for several reasons: it provides a convenient handle for removing the suture later, helps prevent the suture from being pulled into the tissue, and allows for easier identification of the suture during wound care. Which suture connects the occipital and parietal bones?

The suture that goes in between the two parietal bones (left and right) is called the saggital suture. That is the main suture that runs in the middle of the top of your head. The parietal bones articulate with the occipital bone at the lambdoidal suture and with the temporal bones (left and right where the ears are), at the squamosal suture. Finally the parietal bones both meet with the frontal bone at the coronal suture. But the main suture between the parietals again is the saggital suture.Lambdoidal suture connects the two parietal bones together.
