While a seizure is in progress, it is important NOT to restrain the person or place anything in his or her mouth. The most important thing is to prevent injury, and you may want to place a cushion or pillow under the person's head if one is available.
If any seizure goes on for five minutes or longer, call 911 and get emergency help.
Immediately after the seizure, make sure the person is oriented (knows who and where she is), and has no injuries. Seek help or use first aid for any injuries sustained, as appropriate. Seek immediate medical attention if the person remains disoriented.
