Narcissists have a pattern of sucking up to people to create a circle of worshipping friends who lavish him with attention and treat him like the big shot he impersonates. He's wild, fun, generous and helpful for a while. As those people start to realize what he is, his love of them can quickly turn to hate. Normally, a narcissist moves on when their charm wears off. In another case a narcissist can develop a sometimes dangerous hatred for a person who must remain in their life in some way . . . such as a sibling.
