Yes, you are allowed time off to go to therapy if you are in school. It's just like any other doctor's appointment. As long as you have a note it is an excused absence. You won't get perfect attendance but you won't be penalized either.

If you are employed and this is from a past incident your employer cannot deny you time off if it is medically related (which it is) under certain circumstances.

1. After 1 year of full-time employment you are covered under the FMLA which allows you to take single or continuous days off for medical treatment up to 12 weeks each year. During this time your employer must hire you back at your previous or equal position and at the same rate of pay.

2. If you need a longer chunk of time off for therapy you can apply for short term disability assuming it is required in your state or your employer offers it. This is available for longer periods usually but after FMLA expires you are not guaranteed to get your exact job back. However, if they fire you based on your absence or significantly reduce your pay/hours you qualify to have a discrimination law suit brought against them.
