I can answer your first part of the question only. My daughter has a lump in front of her left ear and I was told by her doctor this was due to her odd position in the uterus which was putting pressure on her ears. Please do get yourself checked for hearing problems. If you have none then you have nothing to worry about. It's probably just excess mass of tissue. However if you have any discomfort or pain do consult your doctor. Not everyone has perfect ears and yes, a plastic surgeon could fix this. I've seen it done on programs on TV.
