98.1 is the national average the reading of 98.6 is wrong because a German doctor calculated our body temp by hand and there wasn't calculators back then... scientists much later found out that his calculations were wrong and that people's temperature varies by age, by gender etc.

everybody fluctuates a degree or more every day
you're 2 degrees "off" - probably 10% of the population is farther off.
Watch your temp on a daily basis for a week or a month ... then you'll know what "normal" is for you.
