Is 96.8 ok for body temperature?

98.1 is the national average the reading of 98.6 is wrong because a German doctor calculated our body temp by hand and there wasn't calculators back then... scientists much later found out that his calculations were wrong and that people's temperature varies by age, by gender etc.

98.6 is "normal" or average
everybody fluctuates a degree or more every day
you're 2 degrees "off" - probably 10% of the population is farther off.

Watch your temp on a daily basis for a week or a month ... then you'll know what "normal" is for you.

A normal temp is 98.6 but it has a range of 1 degree higher or lower. A temp of 97-even would be the beginning of hypothermia. Simply bringing the person into a heated area may rewarm adequately but the person may need medical intervention if the temp doesn't come back up to normal range.

i was just at my doctors asking this same question as my normal temp is 96.5-97.2 the doc said this was perfectly in the range of normal.

No I have always had a lower body temp. Mine is usually around 97.3.
