STI (Sexually Transmitted Infection) and STD (Sexually Transmitted Disease) are pretty much the same thing. STI is a more recent term. STDs are (though distinctions aren't always clear) STIs that have begun showing symptoms. People can get an STI that never shows symptoms. Once it shows symptoms it's then called an STD. So when first infected I guess all sexually transmitted maladys are STIs but later may become STDs.

Clamedia often shows no symptoms and so would more likely be an STI.
