No, the temperature is near normal in the mornings. Normal temp is 98.6 degrees. Sometimes the temp rises a little around 11:00 a.m. but stays relatively low until about 2:00 or 3:00 o'lock, when it begins to rise. By 4:00 or 5:00 o'clock it has reached the highest point so far of that day. The higher temp continues through the 7:00, 8:00 and 9:00 p.m. hours, until time for sleep.

What are the benefits of taking fever reducing drugs?

It depends on what the situation is. It has long been believed that high fevers can cause brain damage, especially if left untreated. A fever is just a symptom of illness, not an illness itself. When an otherwise healthy person has a fever because of an illness, it is extremely unlikely to cause brain damage. Even febrile seizures, which occur in children, do not cause any permanent damage. The time to be concerned about a high fever is when it is not caused by an illness, but because of overheating. This is actually heat stroke (hyperthermia), which is completely different than a fever. Brain and organ damage usually occur because of hyperthermia. This when it is best to use a fever reducing drug.
