To some extent, yes. Anorexics have an unnatural desire to lose weight past the point of being "thin" and take it to an unhealthy extreme.
Wanting to lose weight pretty much is the main cause of anorexia. Other factors can be if a person is already thin and they become anorexic out of desparate attempts to stay thin, but that happens much less often.

Most models are tall and very thin. Magazines show mostly re-touched "perfect" images of models. Girls often think, through the meida, that "thin is good", because there is a large lack of positive ideas about healthy, normal looking people and weights. Trying to be so thin can easily cause anorexia.
