Is it possible that you can get an allergic reaction from metal?

I am starting to wonder the same thing. I just bought a new desk a few months ago and currently, when I am sitting at my desk for extended periods of time, I begin to have allergy symptoms (watery, itchy eyes; sore throat; headache; cough). But I do not know if I am actually allergic to the desk or if it is just aggravating my symptoms because I can smell it.

Stainless steel is commonly used in body piercings, cookware and orthopedic implants, so it is widely regarded as safe. Persons with other metal Allergies could have a reaction, though it is highly unlikely.

I am allergic to metal, including stainless steel too. So yes it is possible, and it stinks because you can't wear much jewelry. But you can wear metal if you use clear nail polish and put it on where the metal touches you.
