It depends on the location of the tumor. Most commonly, a brain tumor will increase the pressure within the skull as it grows, forcing the medulla (the lowest part of the brain) downward into the spinal canal. Compression of the medulla can seriously affect blood pressure, breathing, and heart rate.
Cranial
A meningioma is a tumor in the meninges that surround the brain and spinal cord.
During surgery to remove a brain tumor, the cranial cavity would be opened. The cranial cavity is part of the skull that houses the brain, and accessing it allows surgeons to safely operate on brain tumors. This procedure is typically performed through a technique called craniotomy, where a section of the skull is temporarily removed to reach the tumor.
Ventral and Dorsal
Schwannomas are not strictly a brain or spinal tumor because they arise on peripheral nerves
The Chest or Thoracic cavity has to be opened to remove the lung lobe
dorsal
Syringomyelia
None, they would open the skull with the use of a drill.
A meningioma is a tumor that arises from the meninges — the membranes that surround the brain and spinal cord
An interosseous meningioma is a rare type of brain tumor that arises from the meninges, which are the protective layers surrounding the brain and spinal cord. This type of tumor typically forms within the bones of the skull or vertebrae, rather than in the brain itself. Treatment usually involves surgery to remove the tumor.
A tumor arising from an astral cell is called an astrocytoma. Astrocytomas are a type of brain tumor that originates from astrocytes, which are a type of star-shaped glial cell in the brain and spinal cord.
