But even with all this care taken to see that shampoos are safe for use, there are many chemicals in shampoos, some of which your skin may have an allergic reaction to and cause your hair to fall. But the good news is that it will be a temporary case of "hair fall" and not hair loss. Once you switch brands, even your hair fall problem should be taken care of.
Real hair loss is due to hereditary, hormonal and dietary factors. If hair is coming out in clumps, or you notice circular patches of balding spots, however, that is a sign of real head hair loss.
Many times when people change their shampoos they pay more attention to their hair and scalp. If at this time their hair appears shinier and manageable they naturally credit the shampoo. In the same vein, if they see that something is not quite right and they are losing hair, then obviously the shampoo gets blamed irrespective of whether the hair loss has just started or has been going on for some time.
The fact is that whichever shampoo you use while washing your hair, you are going to experience hair fall due to the simple act of washing. The acceptable range of hair loss is about 100 strands of hair a day. This amount of hair fall is normal and does not constitute hair loss.
Chemical procedures such as 'hair perming', vigorous combing of wet hair, and brushing of hair can also cause you to lose hair and this should not be blamed on the shampoo that you use.
The fact of the matter is that although shampoos do make your hair fall, it is normal hair loss and there is no evidence to suggest that using shampoos results in hair loss irrespective of which type you use.

∙ 14y agoNot ordinarily. One possible reason would be an allergy to the shampoo ingredients. Change to baby shampoo and see if the condition stops. Be aware that you do shed hair more in the spring and fall. This is perfectly normal. However, if you experience more than normal hair loss, see your doctor.
