Temporomandibular joint is the one between upper and lower jaw.

It is not an uncommon problem. It has to do with the mandibular joint (in your jaw) and should be examined by your dentist. If you know that you have teeth grinding, search on it for web pages to read, and tell your dentist that you want to learn how to prevent teeth grinding, which can eventually harm your teeth, jaw joint, and cause chronic pain.
A modified hinge joint is a type of joint that has characteristics of both hinge and gliding joints, allowing flexion and extension as well as some degree of side-to-side movement. An example is the temporomandibular joint in the jaw.
The only movable joint in the head is the temporomandibular joint (TMJ), which connects the jawbone to the skull. This joint allows for movements necessary for chewing, talking, and facial expressions.
Massage your jaw muscles(inside and outside of your mouth), your jaw is probably tight on one side and is pulling the disc out of alignment when you open and close your jaw. Don't do it on purpose for kicks, either -- it can start a chronic pain condition called jaw clenching or teeth grinding that is difficult and sometimes expensive to fix.
yOUR JAW HURTS WHEN YOU HAVE A TOOTH ACHE or have been chewing gum for a long time, and to cure it either stop chewing or go to the dentist..lol, just kidding if it hurts, you may have a broken/rotten/loose tooth, or you may just need some rest or to stop eating gum
If it persists see a doctor
No, a pivot joint and a biaxial joint are not the same. A pivot joint allows only rotating movement around one axis, like the movement of the head from side to side. A biaxial joint allows movement in two perpendicular axes, such as the wrist which can move up and down as well as side to side.
The normal jaw movement of a cow when chewing is what vets call a "lateral grind" - as they chew, their jaw moves constantly from one side to the other - left to right.
That could mean you have TMJ.
