Most human hearts are about the size of a human fist, some a little larger, are located just behind the sternum to about the left nipple. If you follow the curve of your chest muscle from the sternum to the left about 3.5 inches and level with both nipples (on men), you will be over the center of the heart. Between the 4th and 5th ribs at this point is the easiest path to the heart. Some skinny people can see their heart beat between these ribs.
