The first thing to do is to stop processing it, because there is a reason why it is so damaged.

The main contributors to damaged hair are:

heat appliances such as hair dryers and straighteners

bleached or coloured frequently

Permed or chemically straightened

Swimming (this is not a good idea if you have dry and damaged hair as the harsh chemicals and chlorine lay in between the hair shaft and are hard to get out, therefore causing frizzing and a springy straw like teture, make sure you wear a swim hat)

They are bad for your hair, so stop right now!

For hair that has been damaged by heat you need moisture, this means air drying your hair instead of blow drying and making sure you only wash your hair when your hair becomes oily.

For hair that has been chemically damaged by swimming perms hair dyes etc.. you hair needs protein, so make sure you buy a protein rich conditioner there are plenty on the market, look for ones with wheat protein in them and avoid more chemical shampoos and conditioners, such as l'oreal, pantene and herbal essence.

Helpful tips to get your hair in better condition are:

Try a hot oil treatment. The best organic treatment to do is using extra virgin olive oil. It's pretty simple too, all you have to do is put it in a cup then into the microwave leave for 30-60 seconds depending on microwave, then remove and dispense liberally over your hair making sure it's completely soaked in warm oil (not boiling, you will burn yourself!) Once you have done this put an old shower cap over your head and sleep with it on, it may feel greasy but it will be worth it trust me! When you wake up rinse it off and use a little shampoo preferably a thick creamy one, you are now ready to put an intensive conditioner on, leave this on for 10-20 minutes make sure you comb it through.

If your hair is extra dry and damaged add a leave in conditioner cream (not spray) the best one's can be baught from a salon and leave it to dry naturally, you can also put a glossy serum on after your hair has dryed. Tresemme's salon silk is a good one for frizz prone hair.

Another good treatment to try is coconut milk, it's refreshing and adds proteins to the hair. I would say do this on a regular wash after you have used a conditioner, remember to use a protein based one.

If your hair is frizzy tie it up don't straighten it please! it will only make it worse!

For very distressed hair try to minimise the amount of times you wash it per week and try not to use as much shampoo, if you can avoid it at all costs.

Make sure you get your hair regularly trimmed so that the dead ends are removed and new healthy hair can grow in it's place, it's recommended to have it done every 6 weeks.

Hope I helped
