It is not called a fafalafagus, it is called an esophagus. People say fafalafagus because they don't know what it is or they don't know how to say it. Your esophagus is in the beginning of your digestion. Air is supposed to go down your esophagus not food. Thats why people choke.
Achalasia cardia is the condition stricture or narrowing of the esophagus due to inability of the sphincter to relax.it is called a stricture.and it can be corrected in a simple procedure.
Heartburn involves the stomach and usually the esophagus. When acid refluxes into the lower esophagus it creates a nasty burning sensation since the esophagus does not have the same protective coating as the inside of a healthy stomach. The pain can be reminiscent of the pain of a heart attack - leading some people to mistake a heart attack for bad heartburn and others to mistake bad heartburn for a heart attack.
Severe acid reflux can lead to esophagitis. The esophagus is the tube that carries food from the mouth to the stomach. Muscles in the lower esophagus normally prevent stomach acid from coming back up into the esophagus, but when a person suffers from mild, moderate or severe acid reflux, the muscles do not stop the acid from entering the esophagus and this stomach acid can cause pain and inflammation of the esophagus, which is caused esophagitis. Managing acid reflux disease is all about preventing acid from leaking back up into the esophagus.
