As a chiropractor, I am of the opinion that there is no better professional to adjust the spine with appropriate purpose than a Doctor of Chiropractic. While physical manipulation may randomly help, an effective chiropractic adjustment moves vertebra in a specific direction to improve nervous system function, improve symmetry and biomechanics.
Manual or physical manipulation involves using hands-on techniques to move the body's joints and soft tissues in order to improve range of motion, reduce pain, and promote healing. This can include techniques such as massage, stretching, and joint mobilization or manipulation performed by a trained healthcare professional like a physical therapist or chiropractor.
I am a chiropractor and can tell you that the answer is an unequivival no. A chiropractor cannot work as a licensed physical therapy assistant unless they are licensed as a physical therapist or physical therapy assistant. Chiropractors can practice physiotherapy(P.T) but cannot practice physcical therapy(P.T). In the same way, physical therapists can sometimes manipulate the spine but they can't practice chiropractic unless they are also a licensed chiropractor. Medicare requires that a P.T or P.T.A perform the physical therapy -not a chiropractor.
A DO is a Doctor of Osteopathic medicine. A chiropractor is a Doctor of Chiropractic. In the beginning (early 1900's) both Chiropractors and Osteopaths treated the body through spinal manipulation. Now Osteopaths have joined the American Medical Association and currently prescribe drugs and perform surgery. While they are trained in spinal alignment and manipulation it can be difficult to find an Osteopath that performs this procedure. Chiropractors are an independent group and remain commited to treating the body without drugs or surgery through spinal manipulation. Jennie Yates, Chiropractor CoreHealth of Clearwater
I am a chiropractor and I think having an injection would have little bearing on seeing or not seeing a chiropractor for back pain. I doubt that spinal manipulation would aggravate your herniated disc but if you would like to make yourself feel better about your decision you can consult with the medical doctor who gave you the injection. Also chiropractors can do other treatments besides spinal manipulation for back pain.

In my search for a chiropractor who may be able to help me, I find websites talking about newborn manipulation. Can someone explain why one would do this?
Medicare law does not prohibit this.
physical therapist
An osteopath - manipulation of the muscles and bones could restore or preserve health. A chiropractor manipulates the spine, as does a physiotherapist
try physical therapist . Not quite sure if 'doctor, chiropractor and massage therapist is one person.' But I go to Evocare Center for Physical Health and think Dr. Spallone is the best chiropractor in Denver (in Lakewood) and he has a discount massage center in his clinic with great therapists, so I think that may answer your questions.
When spinal manipulation is employed, it is generally done with the hands, although some practitioners may use an adjusting tool
Passing gas at the chiropractor can occur due to the manipulation of the spine and joints, which may release trapped air in the digestive system. The adjustments can also relax the muscles around the abdomen, allowing gas to escape. Additionally, the physical relaxation during treatment may make one more aware of bodily sensations, including the need to release gas. It's a natural bodily function and usually nothing to be embarrassed about.
