Should society assume more responsibility for pregnant teenagers and children they bear?
No. Society is responsible for the culture presented that allows someone to believe their decisions are right or wrong based upon the cultural preferences of the community.
Our society today has made sex an acceptable behavior between two consenting persons of any age. Herein lies the questions answer. If someone decides to get pregnant and have a child they have also made the decision to raise and protect this child from harm. Therefore, it is the parent's responsibility to provide the basic food and shelter along with love and care to raise a responsible member of society that will do no harm to others. If the parent is unable or unwilling to provide their end of the responsibility then they can turn to their families for support and assistance.
If neither is financially or emotionally/physically able to do what is necessary to raise the child there are options of adoption for the millions of couples or even single people who have the ability and desire to raise a child of their own.
The question should be why should people that work hard to raise their own families have to be responsible for someone who did not consider the cost of their behavior and how many teens really have a clue to what it costs to provide for their babies?
Society provides over $1000.00 dollars a month for Welfare benefits to mothers with children this is more than what a minimum wage job pays and that is not fair to the working families that are not living on hud housing and welfare.
