Certainly not, I have many tattoo's, one of which became extremely infected because I had strep. The open wound was attacked by my immune system and it was not able to heal properly. The bacteria grew so quickly, that within a 72 hour span, my tattoo no longer had a shape to it, it was literally a BLOB of pus and plasma. ( I then had to go to the hospital every day for dressing to be put on my arm and I had to take antibiotics for 2 weeks to kill anything that may have grown there.)

( Also, be aware that I DID contact my tattoo artist the moment it felt hot and when I began feeling feverish symptoms, including migrane with aura. I followed cleaning instructions and care, it was seemingly a normal reaction, but it turned awful, quickly.)

I advise that until you are in optimal shape and health to avoid getting any tattoo, otherwise your body will go into overdrive, possibly causing severe infection and of course fever.

The tattoo that became infected now exists however has lost a lot of its luster, there is plenty of scaring around the areas that could not be helped immediately and the color has faded substantially.

Of course, this is not an attempt to fear monger, tattoo's are risky business, so take care, and happy + safe tattooing! :)
