The question presupposes that they are similar, but they are not really similar. In its widest sense, to meditate about something is merely to muse on it. You have probably focused musingly on something many, many times. It is unlikely, however, that you have ever been hypnotized. Supposedly, when you are in a hypnotic state you are in a sleep-like state in which you act only because of external suggestions. Many are sceptical that hypnotic states exist.
Good question! NLP uses aspects of conversational hypnosis which was modeled from the work of Dr. Milton H. Erickson in the 1970's. Therefore, all of NLP has and uses some distinctions from hypnosis - in a very indirect manner. Hypnosis specifically however, uses more direct suggestions and is often a do-to therapeutic tool where NLP is more of a do-with tool. Please let me know if I can help further! The imagery in Mary Shelley's Frankenstein is used to portrays the similarities and differences between Victor and his creation, not only does the use of natural imagery compare the two but it forewarns when something is about to happen. Imagery of nature is also used to describe particular people such as Elizabeth and Victor's mother. Women are described as feminine and natural and all natural references can be traced back to a woman, whereas the imagery of men, such as Waldon, the imagery leans more towards that of a scientific nature.
