If you have a regular 28 day cycle, count the first day of red flow as Day 1. pregnancy can occur anytime between day one till the day after ovulation. Ovulation, on average occurs around Day 14. A woman's most fertile days would be that day plus the 4 days before that. Once the egg is released, it will live in the females body for about 24 hours, around day 14. The sperm however have a much longer life and can live in a female for several days, awaiting the arrival of the egg. From what you described, it sounds like you had unprotected sex on day 6 or so. The chances of pregnancy are lower then, but not impossible. If your period is more than a week late this month, purchase a pregnancy test and follow the directions.

Trying to conceive does not change your cycle so that's irrelevant.

If your periods are regular say 28 days a cycle and generally are not erratic. then very close to you next due date when you will be getting periods...or just about four to five days before onset of periods you will not conceive. all the same some women do get pregnant so it cannot be relied upon entirely.
