MY suggestion would be research mononucleolus. which I probably spelled wrong. I am no Dr, but I am researching causes tonite on an unsolved swelling throat myself. My throat is not painful just swollen. For a week the antiobiotics are finished and Its still swollen. My Doc asked me if i was tired after looking at me. I was tested for strep (neg) and mono (neg) But she did say mono causes a swollen throat and makes you sleepy so maybe that will help you.

Can histamine cause sore throat or swollen throat?

Yes, histamine can contribute to a sore or swollen throat, particularly in individuals with allergies or allergic rhinitis. Can sinusitis cause swollen throat glands?

For me sinus drainage will cause the back of my throat to appear swollen but it is due to thickened or even hardened mucus built up in the sinus drainage ducts. You can take your finger and carefully massage around the area (if you feel like sticking your finger back there) and hardened chunks of mucus will come out. I can't stand to leave these things in there, as soon as I notice them I have to get them out or they lead to a sore throat for me. It might sound disgusting but it works for me.
