The Ileum
The terminal portion of the small intestine is called the ileum. It connects to the large intestine at the ileocecal valve.
The ileum is the longest part in the small intestine. It has a length of around 2-4m. It is the last section in the small intestine.
The suture of the second portion of the small intestine is known as the mesentery. It is a fold of peritoneum that attaches the small intestine to the posterior abdominal wall, providing support and allowing blood vessels, nerves, and lymphatics to reach the intestine.
Ileitis is inflammation of the ileum, which is a small portion of the small intestine. Crohn's disease is a type of disease that can also effect the ileum. Terminal ileitis: a chronic inflammatory disease of the intestine involving only the end of the small intestine or TERMINAL ILEUM. Crohn's disease affects primarily the small and large intestines but which can occur anywhere in the digestive system between the mouth and the anus. The diagnosis was thought to be the same however it is now known to be separate and would be treated differently.
The portion of the small intestine that joins the large intestine is called the ileum. It connects to the large intestine at a region known as the cecum, which is the beginning of the large intestine. The ileum is responsible for the absorption of nutrients and bile salts before the remaining undigested food passes into the large intestine for further processing.
the jejunum is the middle portion of the small intestine
The first portion of the small intestine is a small curved portion called "duodenum".
located in the wall of the distal portion of the small intestine.
The first portion of the small intestine, the duodenum, is straight. The second portion, the ileum, is coiled.
The duodenum is the first portion of the small intestine. The jejunum is the middle portion of the small intestine. And the ileum is the last and longest portion of the small intestine, extends from the jejunum to the cecum of the large intestine.
The portion of the small intestine that attaches to the cecum is the ileum. The connection point is called the ileocecal valve, which regulates the flow of contents from the small intestine into the large intestine.
The ileum of the small intestine is directly attached to the large intestine. It forms the majority of the small intestine. It is C-shaped and short. It is the middle portion of the small intestine. It is at the beginning of the small intestine.
