foci is plural for focus. this would be a very small group of cells. The foci would indicate more than one group of cells. Whether the foci is malignant or has metastazied from another area, the writer did not indicate. I recently was diagnosed with breast cancer and the pathology report stated two foci of micrometastasis meaning there were a few malignant cells in the node. I hope this helps you. Be sure to ask your doctor to explain this in plain English to you. Pat

The eccentricity of an ellipse is a number related to how "egg-shaped" it is ... the difference between the distance through the fat part and the distance through the skinny part. That's also related to the distance between the 'foci' (focuses) of the ellipse. The farther apart the foci are, the higher the eccentricity is, and the flatter the ellipse is. Comets have very eccentric orbits. When the two foci are at the same point, the eccentricity is zero, all of the diameters of the ellipse have the same length, and the ellipse is a circle. All of the planets have orbits with small eccentricities.
Echogenic foci in the gallbladder fossa are small, bright spots seen on ultrasound that can represent various entities including gallstones, sludge, or polyps. Your healthcare provider may recommend additional imaging or follow-up to determine the cause and appropriate management.
The answer depends on whether they are the foci of an ellipse or a hyperbola.
