There are various types of dementia each with it own wrinkle but there are some symptoms that seem to be common to all. Additionally there are early warning signs which is what I'll concentrate on here. They include: forgetting how to do routine or familiar tasks; having difficulties find what words to say; not remember recent events; not remembering appointments, names and losing things; personality changes; confusion and disorientation; confusion and disorientation; poor judgment and increased difficulty in multi-tasking. As a person moves to the middle to the late stage these symptoms worsen and are further complicated by hallucinations, the inability to take care of ones self; inability to learn new information finally in the late state to total dependence on others and losing the ability to eat, swallow, etc.
