There are many different physical, medical, and mental complications that can accompany anorexia. Some (but not all) include....

* Hair loss
* Discolored nails
* Stress on kidneys, liver, and lungs
* Heart murmur, heart attack, heart failure
* Dizziness
* Fainting

* Loss of menstrual cycle (women)
* Loss of sex drive (men)

* BDD (Body Dismorphic Disorder)
* Social isolation

Anorexia is often cause by low self-esteem. This can happen as a result of teasing from others, rude comments, and depression. Anorexia can also (though some dispute this) be caused by the media. Most models are tall and very thin. Magazines show mostly re-touched "perfect" images of models. Girls often think, through the meida, that "thin is good", because there is a large lack of positive ideas about healthy, normal looking people and weights. Trying to be so thin can easily cause anorexia.
Those who are not treated for anorexia can suffer major health consequences. About 15% will die as a result of the disorder. Some can manage the disorder or attempt recovery on their own, but professional help is often needed.
People can prevent anorexia or not develop the eating disorder themselves in many simple ways. The best methods of prevention are maintaing a healthy lifestyle that is very active and a healthy, well-balanced diet. Having good self-esteem and positive body image are very important, too.
Although anorexia is a dangerous illness that can be life-threatening, there are several pro-anorexia websites on the Internet. Some of these include Houseofthin, Proanamia, or Anafriends.
It is hard to put an exact number on it. About 10% to 20% of anorexics will eventually die from the disroder or directly from a side effect or result of the disorder. That can equate to about 50 to 100 people per day, depending on how you look at it. Also, some may die as a result of other conditions that are only made worse by anorexia, in which case they are not counted in statistics as having anorexia as a primary cause of death.
You don't have to be really skinny to be a model, you should be skinny but toned as well. My advice is to have a healthy diet which includes some daily exercise like sit-ups or Jackknives.Just promise me you wont go on a crash diet :S its just sooo unhealthy (:
There are many ways to help stop and prevent anorexia. Some of those are.... *Eating right *Maintaing a healthy lifestyle *Aiming to be healthy, not stick-skinny *Not teasing others about weight / looks *Having high self-esteem / self body image *Being friendly to others *Not critising your body to much *Not striving to be exactly like an idol or role model

Some statistics are... * Anorexia affects an estimated 1 in every 250 people. * 9 out of every 10 anorexics are female, 1 out of every 10 are male. * 30%-40% of anorexics will die as a result of the disease or a complication caused by the disorder.
There are many important things to consider about anorexia. It all depends on what you are trying to focus on. Some crucial or important things to consider in all aspects are.... * Anorexia is both a physical and mental disorder. * Anorexia is very sensitive to the person. * Strict or harsh / assertive actions will almost always backfire. * Anorexics will go to almost any length to lose weight / avoid calories and food. * Anorexia can cause serious health problems. * 10% of all anorexia cases are fatal (as a direct result of the disorder). * Anorexia is often kept secret or hidden for a long time. * Just because someone is anorexic does not always mean they are severly underweight or skin-and-bones.
Some do, yes...but not all.
