The three heat-related injuries are heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke. Heat cramps are painful muscle contractions due to dehydration and electrolyte imbalances. Heat exhaustion is characterized by heavy sweating, weakness, dizziness, and nausea, while heat stroke is a medical emergency that occurs when the body temperature rises to dangerous levels and can be life-threatening.
Bleeding and heat exhaustion are not related.
Players require more fluids (often with electrolytes, such as sodium and potassium added) in order to minimize the risk of dehydration. Dehydration can lead to leg cramps, and even dizziness and heat exhaustion, among other things - and even heat stroke, in extreme cases.
The recommended treatment for heat exhaustion includes moving to a cooler place, resting, drinking cool water, and applying cool compresses to the skin. It is important to seek medical attention if symptoms worsen or do not improve.
Prolonged exposure to high humid temperatures, loss of fluids/ dehydration without being replenished causes the body to go into shock.
