If you are talking about drugs that are abused such as herion, marijuana, cocaine, opioids, bennies, the advantages are only the short term effects. The disadvantages however are far greater and include becoming addicted to the point that you cannot stop using, you spend all your money on the substance and lose your savings, house, car, family, etc. Not to mention the fact that with some drugs you can overdose and die on even the first use. Cocaine is especially bad for that, in the sense that you don't even have to have taken too much but your body can just react so badly to it that you can die the first time you use.
