What are the causes of blood cancer?

It can be genetic, lifestyle choices, or just happen at random like most cancers.

Ah, if it were easy to answer we would live an a great great world!! 90% of cancers are acquired, usually by contact with carcinogenic substances like benzine which is in EVERY Petroleum product. Paint, paint thinners, car engine oil, etc. The others 10% cases are genetically induced-you have it built into your DNA. One of the test done when you are suspected of having cancer is to have a bone marrow biopsy. That sample is sent to a special Cytogenic (Genes,DNA) laboratory and the cancer gene can be seen on any number of threads of your DNA. If it is found in your DNA, it has most likely been passed down through generation or even your parents. There are no definitive answer to this question.

Blood cancer(s) occur the same as any other cancers. They begin with a mutation of the cell. When a cell divides it is suppose to produce two identical replicas of itself. In the case of cancers, a cell is triggered to divide differently. The replicas are different from the parent cell, and other cells of the same type. When those cells divide they may further mutate--and most often do. At some point the cells that started of as a certain type, no longer resemble the type of cell they are suppose to, and the further away from the "type" determines whether they are pre-cancerous or cancerous.

That is the answer to the question, as you asked it. Now, if you want to no why or what triggers the mutation, it can be genetic triggers, exposure to carcinogens, and even some theories suggest viruses as culprits. Without knowing what type of blood cancer, this is the best I have to offer.

The main causes for leukaemia/blood cancer are generally things like exposure to smoke or exposure to radiation. There are many reasons but these are the main two, it's very unlikely that you have blood cancer so don't worry! If you suspect that you do visit your Doctor for a blood test here are the symptoms;

1)Easily bruised/ easily cut.

2)Strange red spots called Petechiae.

3)Joint pains.

4)Headaches and lots of long lasting nose bleeds.

5)Pale skin/ fever.

I'm sorry if this doesn't help but I am a twelve year old girl so if you really do suspect anything wrong you might want to ask someone slightly more experienced in the matter (doctor/nurse/medic) but this is pretty accurate since I am still fighting Leukaemia.
