Bone marrow cavities contain marrow that produces red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets. It also lightens the bones.

Yellow marrow is the type of bone marrow found in the central cavities of long bones of adults. It is mainly composed of fat cells and serves as a fatty reserve for energy storage. Yellow marrow can convert to red marrow in certain situations, such as during periods of increased blood cell production.

The two compuct bones is spongy bone and bone marrow
Bone Marrow is a soft highly vascular modified connective tissue that occupies the cavities of most bones and occurs in two forms: a: one that is yellowish, consists chiefly of fat cells, and is found especially in the cavities of long bones b: one that is reddish, is the chief site of blood cell formation, and occurs in the normal adult in cancellous tissue especially of certain flat bones -called also red marrow.
Bone marrow is a soft tissue that is produced inside the bones. There are two types of bone marrow, medulla ossium rubra and medulla ossium flava.
Bone marrow and cancellous bone tissue
The red blood cells are produced in the red bone marrow in the center of the bone.Marrow.Red blood cells, or erythrocytes, are made in the bone marrow as are white blood cells or leukocytes and they originate from stem cells. The marrow is located in the length of the long bones until we get older, then it will diminish with age. As we age the marrow is predominantly in the sternum or breastbone, the iliac crest or the hip bone of the pelvis, and in the vertebrae of the spine. The ends of the long bones or epiphysises are solid bone covered with cartilage for the strength needed for the movable joints.marrow
