Tendons attach muscles to bones. Tendons may also attach muscles to structures such as the eyeball. Tendons are connective tissues that are tough fibrous material rich in collagen. The muscles and tendons help to control joint movement. Muscles have tendinous origins (where they arise) and insertions (where they insert) on bones. Tendons are the part of the muscle that is white and fibrous. Tendons have very little blood supply so when torn it takes some time to heal. In severe tendon injuries the attachment of the tendon can be torn away from the bone.
The same tissue that connects bone to bone is called a ligament. The difference is an anatomical one, not a functional one.

I know that what attaches bones to muscles is called TENDONS

Attaches them together.
Attaches them together.
Tendons attach muscles to bones. The very same tissue attaches bone to bones and they are called ligaments.
tendons tendons grasp onto bones holding the bones in place so when the muscles move, the bones will also move
Bone to bone= ligament bone to muscle = tendon
Bone to Bone - Ligament Muscle to Bone - Tendon
Tendons attach muscles to bones, while ligaments attach bones to other bones.
The muscles of the body attach to bones via tendons. Different muscles attach to different bones to create movement at various joints in the body. For example, the biceps muscle attaches to the radius bone in the forearm, while the quadriceps muscle group attaches to the femur bone in the thigh.
