When you eat or drink something, that item gives off gases. Whilst the food or drink is being digested, the gases remain in your stomach. It either follows the food and/or drink through the large and small intestine and makes you fart, or rises through the throat and out your mouth, causing you to burp.
Swallowing air, high fiber foods, artificial additives, and general food intolerances will all cause bloating and gas after eating.
