What causes diarrhea and stomach gurgling mean?

Could a be a multitude of issues. Stomach bug, food posioning, too much fiber, consuming too many sugar alcohols, etc. If it does not come with a fever, just ride it out. Be sure to drink lots of liquids, as diarrhea can be dehydrating.

When you haven't eaten anything for a period of time the parasympathetic system releases motilin. Motilin cause this "gurgling" in the stomach and small intesntine. More specifically they cause Migrating Myoelectric Complex (MMC), which causes highly propulsive contractions that move food to the colon. Its usually described as sweeping or the houskeeping of the intestines. It also inhibits the migration of bacteria from the colon into the terminal portion of the small intestine (Ileum). To the best of my knowledge this is not associated with hunger nor does it stimulate the desire to eat. Gurgling of the stomach may be associated with bacterial secrtions that cause the release of NaCl, thus drawing water into the lumen, and increased contractions of the small intestine (or at least the ileum). Gurgling in your stomach could be from an upset stomach. You may want to take Pepto Bismol to soothe your stomach.

I'm not a doctor or anything but, it's probably air inside the intestines moving around that makes the noise you are referring to.
