I sometimes get migraines before and during my period. What causes mine, as a woman who suffers from migraines, is the elevation and then severe drop in estrogen. During ovulation is when your estrogen levels are at the highest, and then your estrogen levels drop suddenly during your period.
I don't know exactly why this imbalance causes our heads to pound while other women do okay with it.
For some women, the physical changes right before their period often herald a migraine. This can be from the decline in estrogen, to prostaglandins released in the body while the endometrium is shedding, to a drop in the magnesium in your body. Yes, having a migraine can be a sign of your period coming. I know this from experience, I am 36 and have been having migraines since I was 14. My migraines always come a week before my period is due and I only have them once a month, this is how I narrowed it down to what was causing my migraines.
During certain types of migraine headaches there are 4 phases. Prodrome, Aura, Pain, Postdrome. During the Aura phase some people experience an "aura" as flashing lights or loss of peripheral vision. Some people have a greying out or blacking out of vision nearly entirely. Migraine is a neurological problem, beginning with a change in the electrical activity in the brain. Scientists are still not sure exactly what causes aura, but they believe it may have something to do with this electrical activity and the change in blood flow which happens in the brain during a migraine attack. While most people experience aura as short duration right before the headache begins, others continue to experience the aura during or after the pain is over.
Before English, the official language during the period of resistance was Portuguese.
A symptom or group of symptoms that appears shortly before an acute attack of illnessIn reference to migraine headaches, prodrome is the first phase of a migraine. It is the phase that begins before the headache begins, also before the migraine aura begins. However "prodrome" (or prodromal) is a term used to describe the time-period before a full-blown illness where non-specific symptoms set in, and is used for many other diseases, such as seizure disorders, schizophrenia, and even influenza.Getting back to migraine....Hours, sometimes even days before a migraine begins, the body can begin experiencing symptoms. Some of these symptoms are:1. Sensitivity to temperature5. The beginnings of sensitivity to light and sound6. Yawning7. Fatigue or hyperactivity
Having a baby
Do you mean can you get pregnant during your period? The answer to that is yes, you can. Plenty of unsuspecting people have before
Yes.
A Migraine that is unusual, new, or lasts in excess of 72 hours is a reason to seek the help of your doctor. A missed period may be incidental, but is a good reason to seek the help of a qualified physician so the cause can be determined and treated. Since Migraines are often triggered by hormone fluctuations, the Migraine may have been triggered by whatever caused the missed period. For appropriate diagnosis and treatment of Migraine and other headache conditions, please seek the help of a board certified Migraine and headache specialist who has received additional training in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of these headache disorders and diseases.
