Pleurisy (Pleuritis)
This term is pleurisy (also known as pleuritis) an inflammation of the pleura, the lining around the lungs. This inflammation causes swelling and therefore pain especially with coughing.
Could be a number of things and should be seen by a doctor. In my case it was from coughing due to smoking. Excessive coughing can cause pain under the rib cage from bruising.
