There are several possible causes of pain during intercourse. There could be an infection in the uterus, or even possibly the cervix itself. There may be a more serious cause for painful intercourse. A more serious cause for the pain may be diseases of the uterus or tubes. These can be severe and need to be treated as soon as possible.
