My left foot gets mildly swollen on top of the foot. It is generally worst at the end of the day. The medications that I take daily are: Atenonol 25 mgs and Diovan HCT 12.5 mgs. I take Tylenol PM on an average of 5 days a week. I eat healthy, yet I have 35 extra punds that I have a hard time shedding. I am 59 yrs old and have a family history of CVA; Myocardial Infarction and Atrial Fibrillation. Please advice.
Foot swelling can be caused by a variety of illnesses and conditions. Diabetes, phlebitis, and a twisted ankle are some of the reasons. A doctor will need to evaluate and treat the foot swelling.

No. Athlete's foot is a fungal condition that causes, in extreme cases, oozing out of fluids. But swelling of the feet would have another cause. Best check with your doctor.
Swelling in the bunion area of the foot is primarily caused by the misalignment of the big toe, which leads to increased pressure on the joint at the base of the toe. This misalignment can result from factors such as genetics, wearing tight or ill-fitting shoes, or excessive foot stress. Inflammation and irritation of the surrounding tissues can also contribute to swelling, often leading to pain and discomfort. Additionally, conditions like arthritis may exacerbate the swelling in this area.
Using a heating pad on a swollen foot is generally not recommended, as heat can increase blood flow and potentially exacerbate swelling. Instead, it's better to use ice or a cold compress to help reduce inflammation and numb the area. Elevating the foot and keeping it rested can also aid in reducing swelling. If the swelling persists or is accompanied by severe pain, it's advisable to consult a healthcare professional.

Pain in the instep of the foot can be caused by conditions such as plantar fasciitis, stress fractures, tendonitis, or nerve entrapment. Wearing improper footwear, overuse or sudden increase in activity levels can also contribute to instep pain. It is important to see a healthcare provider for a proper diagnosis and treatment plan.
A displacement of two major bones of the foot (hallux valgus) causes bunions, although not everyone with this displacement will develop the joint swelling and bone overgrowth that characterize a bunion.
Arthritis causes pain, stiffness and swelling of joints.
