Hi there well speaking from experience - I have had 6 children and after my 6th the community midwife came around to my house after I left hospital about 1 1/2 weeks after delivery and did the normal checks on the baby and then checked to see if my uterus had gone right down - and when she pressed on my tummy I nearly flipped and tears were streaming down my face - I didn't want to tell her that I also had a smell from my vagina that wasn't quite right (how embarrassing) so I left it and the next morning I couldn't walk and was rolling around in pain. Went to the doc and he said that I had a Uterine Infection and I was put on a course of 2 different antibiotics - who ever invented them needs a medal! So that was because a tiny piece of placenta was left inside after delivery!
Hope this helps
