Protease : an enzyme that hydrolyzes proteins, and Gastric juice which contains enzymes and Hcl( hydrochloric acid)
Low pH is needed to start the denaturation and digestion of proteins, which occurs in the stomach.
The stomach releases hydrochloric acid to kill bacteria and help with the digestion of food. The acidic environment in the stomach also helps to break down proteins and activate enzymes needed for digestion.
a heathy one :D i know it wasnt funny dont judge me!
The typical person's stomach is very acidic, with an average ph range of between 1.5 and 3. It is activated by pepsin, an enzyme that is able to digest proteins in an acidic environment. Milk can be soothing to an upset stomach, because its acid level is low. However, many people find milk products difficult to digest.
The stomach secretes these fluids:•Gastric juice: acidic liquid secreted from the stomach; it contains hydrochloric acid, pepsin, water, and other compounds•Hydrochloric acid: very acidic, starts to denature proteins, converts pepsinogen into active enzyme pepsin (assist in protein digestion), kills many bacteria and germs that may have entered the body•Pepsin: proteins and fats enter the stomach largely unchanged, begins digestion of protein and activates other GI enzymes needed to digest your meal•Gastric lipase: one enzyme responsible for fat digestion, not very much produced so little digestion occurs•Mucus: thick whit fluid that protects the stomach lining from being digested by HCl and pepsin•the stomach also mixes and churns (more mechanical digestion) food until it becomes liquid chyme•Stomach has three bands of muscles; longitudinal, circular and diagonal•Pyloric sphincter regulates the release of chyme from the stomach into the first part of the small intestine, the duodenum
salivary amylase.
GALBLADDER and PANCREAS
Pepsinogen is secreted as an inactive precursor because pepsin is a proteolytic enzyme that can damage the cells that produce it. By secreting pepsinogen, the stomach protects itself from self-digestion until it is needed to break down proteins in the stomach.
The stomach is acidic in order to kill any bacteria that enter the stomach. The acid does not break down food, but contains an enzyme called protease, a form of pepsin, which breaks down proteins into polypeptide chains. No further digestion takes place in the stomach, as this takes place in the ileum, small intestine. The stomach has to maintain its acidity for the enzyme protease to function. The stomach acid is very acidic, but is also quite dilute, and the acid (Hydrochloric Acid) is fairly harmless in this diluted state.
The pancreas produces various digestive enzymes needed for the breakdown of carbohydrates, proteins, and fats. The stomach secretes gastric enzymes like pepsin to break down proteins. The salivary glands also produce amylase, which initiates the digestion of carbohydrates in the mouth.
Mainly, the enzyme Protease breaks up proteins into amino-acids. Also, proteins contain nitrogen which the body cannot use. Water is required to remove this nitrogen, bonding with if to form ammonia. This is subsequently secreted in urine.
Yes there is a turn over cycle happens for all proteins in cell. If a protein is not needed or a protein has done its job it will be degraded by proteases. Also the house keeping proteins are constantly made as they are needed for the cells primary activities.
