What could cause pain left side waist and hip?

If this pain is coming from behind and not the front, it could beSciatica. It starts at the backside of your hip and runs halfway through one of your buttocks and then down your leg sometimes even all the way down to your foot. Its extremely painful. If this isn't at all what your experiencing I apologize. Maybe you could give a little more detail

First question-male or female? If female, this may be a reproductive issue. The ovaries are around the waist and hip area. Could be a cyst or, more serious, an ectopic pregnancy. Get it checked. If male or not reproductive issue in female, look at possible spinal involvement. Sometimes a nerve can be affected and cause pain in the lower back area. This would also produce symptoms such as radiating pain or tingling down the associated leg. Bone pain feels different that visceral pain. I would like to have more defined symptoms.
