What do anorexics look like after a few years?

It depends on how severe the anorexia is for the individual, along with if they are in treatment or not. For minor cases, the person may still seem "normal" or "average", or just a bit on the thinner side. For more severe cases, the person may seem emaciated or dying.

It depends, as there are many levels and severities of anorexia. Those that are not "too thin" can look perfectly normal. As an anorexic case becomes more severe and the person loses more weight, they will begin to look thin and weak. Bones may protrude, hair can fall out, skin may become dry and flaky, nails can become brittle / discolored, and the person may be weak and prone to dizziness / fainting.

Obviously, thin. A person with anorexia will be too thin, but its not just about the thinness. They may appear to have thinner hair, brittle teeth and nails. They may look drawn and tired, prominant bones in places you can see, as people with anorexia tend to cover up in baggy clothes.

There is no set appearance, and this is part of what makes diagnosing anorexia so difficult. The most prevailing image is of an individual (usually a woman) who is sickly and emaciated, severely under weight and malnourished. Unfortunately, this is only the most extreme cases. Millions of men and women are anorexic and harming their bodies but may appear to be a a "healthy" or "normal" weight. It can take months for outwards signs of the disease, such as hair loss, to occur. Meanwhile, harm is already being done internally to vital organs like the heart and kidneys.
