Now hear me out before calling me "ignorant" or "insensitive" or something in that nature. Let me start off by saying that I went through clinical depression for awhile. Everyday was a struggle, so I understand what people are going through when they have this sort of mental illness. However, one night as I laid in bed thinking about my life, I decided this wasn't what I wanted to do with my life. I was not some sort of victim in this world, and I wasn't about to waste this precious life that I have. That was the defining moment in my life that completely changed and I would say turned around my life. I forced my self up everyday, and moved with determination. Now I am not saying it was easy, every step I took was a struggle in itself, I wanted to give up so many times, but I didn't. I started exercising and eating healthier, and eventually I got happier. I never depended on any medication to lift my spirts and give me some sort of false happiness. I wanted my happiness to be real and I worked hard through the struggles and made it happen. Now when I hear about these stories about these people who can't get out of bed, are overeating themselves, or taking drugs to make yourself feel better, I am somewhat disgusted by this. I have and still feel, that if you truly want to feel better, then go out and do it. In conclusion, I feel that people who are in depression that don't or won't try and get better is more of a lack of will then anything else. What do you guys think?
