I think you can, just because your immune system can start to fight off the bacteria, but when your white cells become slightly at red falg levels your body will warn you with a FEVER so you can obtain medical intervention... Strep is also contatious, of course to a partner or sharing utensils or drinking cups without proper disinfecting... Hope this HELPS! Strep throat may become a bit calm, but will not clear up without ANTIBIOTICS ...

When I had strep I never had a fever. But this could have been because i was treated very quickly.

Can you get strep throat from someone who has been exposed to someone who has strep throat?

Talk to you doctor if you have a fever, or any other symptoms that concern you. You can't get diagnosed here. Strep Throat doesn't appear out of thin air; it is a bacterial infection. Not all bad sore throats are caused by strep. If you have cold symptoms and no fever, it is probably caused by a virus. Strep throat is airborne, meaning that you get it from the tiny droplets that an infected person gives off in sneezes. So a person who doesn't have strep throat cannot possibly give strep to you, no matter what you do. But that doesn't mean that you can't get any number of other things from engaging in oral sexual activity.

What is scarelet fever?

it is my understanding that scarlet fever is caused by the strep bacteria... however all because your child has strep doesn't mean that they are sensitive to the toxins produced by the strep bacteria or that the toxins were even produced.. my sister had this a few years ago (i thought it was a thing of the past) while my brother and i have never had it. the symptoms she had were a red "scarlet" rash on her face back chest (everywhere!... you can't miss it), sore throat (as you would with strep), fever, and her tonsils and tongue had white speckles on them and I remember her being very fatigued

What is the scientific name for strep throat?

The bacterium is called "streptococcal pharyngitis". This is the strain which causes strep throat. There are many other causes for sore throat as well, so be sure and check with your doctor if you have a fever of 101 or higher. Strep throat can only be diagnosed 100 percent by running blood tests, so just because you have a sore throat doesn't mean you have strep. Drink plenty of fluids because fluids help the body rid itself of toxins as well as keep you hydrated and helps to move that mucous out of the body.

What are the most common symptoms of strep throat?

Sore throats are a common condition that can have any number of causes. Post-nasal drip can cause the throat to become irritated. Excessive smoking can cause it, and a number of viral and bacterial conditions can contribute to the condition as well. One common bacterial infection that causes a sore throat and a fever as its two most common symptoms is strep throat. Most people get strep throat when they are children. As long as it is caught in time it is normally treated with a course of antibiotics that help the immune system do its job. Schools will usually demand that the child stay away from school for up to 24 hours after his symptoms have cleared up. A concerned parent who suspects his or her child might have contacted strep throat can help the diagnosis by making sure that the child is not coughing, sneezing or suffering from other cold symptoms. The condition is usually accompanied by a fever of 101 degrees or higher. Swollen lymph nodes also let a parent know that a child has a problem. If any of these symptoms occur, the best bet is to make a doctor’s appointment and see what he can do. Teenagers do get this sickness as well, but there is another condition, infectious mononucleosis that causes many of the same symptoms. If a teenager has been kissing, the odds are good that it is mono and not strep throat. Parents can do their teens and themselves a favor by not asking who they were kissing. A good medical professional will ask the same questions to determine who else might have been infected. Mononucleosis also includes fatigue as a symptom, which strep throat does not. The previous paragraphs have referred to strep throat as being a common condition in children. That does not mean it cannot occur in adults. It can and the symptoms are the same. People who have weakened immune systems due to age or conditions such as Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome can have this condition occur with other conditions.
