atypia is abnormalities in cells found within a mole. the term atypia when referring to skin is catagorized into 3 stages.Mild, Moderate, and severe.when a mole is considered to be severely atypical it is the last stage OS atypia and may continue or progress into skin cancer (melanoma) if left untreated.Usually a severely atypical mole should and will be reccomended by the dermatologist to be excised before it has the chance of turning into melanoma.
