It's difficult to prove a negative. If a narcissist finds out some of those characteristics, all he has to do is be a good actor. Not being a narcissist is the only quality one could have to prove one is not a narcissist. There is no act a person can perform or one thing a person can do that would prove once and for all that the person is not and never has been and never will be a narcissist. Yet all the same, if you are not a narcissist, other people will recognize this fact, just as if you are, that too will come to light. Empathy. Narcissist's do not posess it nor do they understand it.

OF COURSE! Mines is doing that now. They'd do anything to make themselves look like the saint. That is classic narcissist behavior. You have to be pretty careful in knowing who your friends are and who the narcissist has gotten to. I hate to say it but in order to figure out what the narcissist is up to, you have to think like a narcissist. Of course that makes you look bad, like you ARE a narcissist (you've probably picked up some narcissist behaviors being around one anyway) so BE CAREFUL. My narcissist called this game "Ex Caliber" after King Arthur's sword. He said people who were pure and of good intentions could slip past his defenses. Translation: You better make yourself look better than the narcissist and dodge the mud he's flinging if you want to keep your friends!

Why would some one "wait." 10 years? it doesn't matter who you are waiting for if the person loved you they would demonstrate that love right away. So, if some one decides to put their life on hold for a narcissist i suggest to go get professional help as to why you would do such a thing. Plus, I think you would give as your life will change. A Narcissist thinks you have nothing better to do!!

A Masochist is someone that loves pain, in short, and very generalized. Loving a narcissist is about pain, therefore only a masochist could love a narcissist. Having said that, I think someone was being very sarcastic when writing it as anyone can fall in love with a narcissist, they are very charming and morph themselves to you, for awhile. I think they were trying to make the point that only a masochist could enjoying loving a narcissist, due to the pain part. On that I concur.

Mine did. I dumped him and he blocked me from everything because I was so angry and called him names and wouldn't get over my anger. He said I hurt him because I called him a "coward", "a narcissist", "a jerk", "stupid", etc. so he blocked me completely.
