Nerve gas inhibits the action of cholinesterase, which is important because with out it the post synaptic neuron cannot re-polarize. This is to say that the post synaptic neuron cannot undergo a recovery period. As a result, the neuron cannot receive another impulse and this leads to body to undergo a spasm.

Neurons allow for the body to feel,touch,smell,hear, and see things in the world. When we, for example, touch something a neuron sends a stimulus to our brain and our brain pieces together what we are touching and allows us to make sense of this contact with the environment. If our neurons are not able to conduct a stimulus we cannot interact with the environment and as a result our body will spasm. It is important for us that our neurons work because without them we cannot balance, talk, eat, and function.
