Labiaplasty RecoveryObviously it varies from person to person, and your recovery time, amount of pain, etc will be different depending on what method of labiaplasty you have. After your surgery, you will be sent home with a bandage and ice on the area, which should be applied constantly for 24 hours or more. You will have none or very minimal pain that day (thanks to intravenous drugs), but will be very sleepy.

For the next few days, you will take a prescribed pain medication (Vicodin or similar). After urinating, you must apply Bacitracin or a similar ointment to the area. You may shower on the second day and rinse the area, but no soap until the third day. You will be bruised, swollen and probably very asymmetrical. This is normal and the asymmetry should go down by thr twelth week. The stitches used are almost always dissolvable and so will not need to be removed but it can take up to six weeks for them to dissolve completely. You will experience mild to severe discomfort with the sutures.

No exercise for at least four weeks, and no sex, bicycle riding etc for at least six weeks. You will be sore and may be itchy. You will not be able to wear fitted clothing for several weeks, and may not be able to wear anything on the area at first because of the discomfort, so I suggest you stock up on skirts. Some people are able to go back to sedentary jobs after just 48 hours. Others may take a couple of weeks to sufficiently recover, so be prepared just in case you need to spend your time resting. Your health comes first.

This operation is can be expensive, but for women plagued with chronic discomfort and body-image issues, it is certainly worth it. My suggestion to anyone considering the surgery is to do your homework. Pick a surgeon with many examples of his or her work and with whom you feel comfortable. This surgery is in no way reversible, so it's important for you to be confident in your surgeon. It is equally important that you choose your surgeon wisely.

I had this a few years ago and had little pain. I was more swollen. My doctor doesn't recommend ice. Some of the sutures may need to be removed but most dissolve. I am in Orange County California and went to the ocbody.com doctor. He did a modified wedge on me that worked out very well but seeing as he is a plastic surgeon I paid cash for it. I wanted the best and I got it. My doctor does not recommend ice but did talk about using bags of frozen peas early on. It was a while back so I don't remember if I used them or not.

After surgery, patients may experience mild to moderate discomfort and variable swelling, which usually disappear for the most part after one to two weeks.

Recovery times ranging from three days to two weeks.

Labiaplasty-in comparison to other popular rejuvenation surgeries-requires additional treatment in five to seven percent of cases.
