you need muscles to move...
When you exercise, you need to move a lot, so you'll need more blood to carry oxygen and do gas exchange to transfer energy.
Nitrogen
Carbon dioxide. This is due to the fact that muscles need oxygen to function and so uses oxygen and converts it into Carbon dioxide. Hopefully this helps!

Tentacles need the most muscles.
Yes.You do because you need to push from the ground and your leg muscles will help.
You don't need more blood when you run. If you are healthy, you have all the blood you need "on board" already. What you need is a lot more oxygen (O2). Let's look at what's happening, and without making it too complex. The tissues of the body need oxygen to live. And the muscles need oxygen, too. The muscles can operate without O2 for a short while, but not long. And when the muscles are working hard like they are when we run, they need a lot more O2 to keep them going. The muscles are turning chemical energy into mechanical energy, and they need oxygen and "food energy" (from what we've eaten) to do that. To get the O2 we need, we breathe faster and more deeply. Gas exchange is taking place in the tissues of the body. The cells take oxygen from the blood and dump carbon dioxide (CO2) into it. In the lungs, there is a "reverse" gas exchange taking place. The CO2 in the blood is dumped into the lungs and O2 is picked up.
