As long as the eye has had ample time to heal following the surgery, usually nothing happens. There are some eye traumas, though, that can relift the flap that is created in the LASIK surgery. For that reason, there are certain people I recommend not get LASIK surgery b/c of their profession, most notably boxers. There are also freak accidents that may relift the corneal flap as well (like a patient who was hit in the eye with the edge of a 2x4). When this sort of accident occurs, we simply lay the flap back in place and give it time to heal. On the same note, the military used to prohibit LASIK in their pilots because of the fear that the G-force created in high speed planes would dislocate the flap. With the introduction of the Intralase laser, the military not only allows LASIK but performs it routinely on pilots.

How soon after cataract surgery can contact lens be worn?

Basically, if you could wear contacts before LASIK you can wear them afterwards if needed. There are some people who have LASIK because they cannot wear contacts and this is not necessarily going to be helped by LASIK. Also, some people who wear hard or gas permeable contact lenses are not able to wear them as well because the "dome" of the cornea is changed and the lenses will not center well. Finally, if there is some irregular astigmatism caused by the LASIK which is rare, then soft contact lenses will not fully restore the vision. For most people who have LASIK, they are able to go back to contact lens wear if needed after the healing period is completed. You should wait at least six months after your corneal flap will completely adhere to the surface of the eye. The vast majority of patients do not need to wear contact lenses after Lasik. There are some conditions where contacts may be helpful or favourable after laser vision correction procedure. In Conclusion, if you could use contacts comfortably before procedure, it will not be a problem for you to use them again after Lasik.

Is it possible for women of 42 years to do eye lasik surgery?

Your age does not exclude you from being a good candidate for LASIK. If you're noticing age-related changes in your near vision, LASIK cannot stop that from happening. But you have two options. You can have both eyes corrected to see well far away and you use over-the-counter readers to see up close, or you can opt for monovision where one eye is corrected to see well far away and the other eye is corrected to see well up close. You doctor can do a quick test to see which eye should be for near and which should be for distance. Most docotors will let you try out monovision contact lenses so you can see what it will be like after surgery. Most patients' brains adapt very well to monovision, but there are some patients who have a hard time adjusting to it. If you have monovision LASIK performed and don't like it, the worst thing that happens is that you get your near vision eye fully corrected to see well far away. That way, both eyes are focused at a distance and you'd simply need over-the-counter reading glasses to see up close. Hope that helps!

What happens if you close your eyes too hard and too tight?

Closing your eyes too hard and too tight can cause strain on the muscles around your eyes, leading to discomfort or headaches. It could also potentially increase intraocular pressure temporarily, but this is generally not a significant concern unless you have underlying eye conditions.
