It depends where it is before you eat. If it is in food, then it gets absorbed very quickly into your bloodstream, some of it even before the food hits the stomach. Then your pancreas and liver work hard to try and store it because it is such a sought after fuel source, it's like gold to the bopdy's metabolism. The downside to this is that it stores it so fast that your blood sugar drops after a while and you get very drousy. But, your body remembers what a wonderful jolt that last dose was so it wakes up wanting more, like a drug addict wanting a fix. That is why if you have a high carbohydrate breakfast and sweet drinks during the day you will keep craving the stuff. The final goal of all this glucose binging is to feed the cells in your body. Every single cell needs to burn fuel to keep going and stay alive, it used glucose for part of this process. The thing is, if you are in reasonable health, your body always has enough stored glucose in your liver and muscle cells ready to be put to work, but you need to trigger this process, and you can do that by eating protein for breakfast instead of the doughnuts, cereals, waffles, panckaes, etc, those are not the best thing for your glucose levels in your body.
